Thanksgiving

Last week was a weird time for me and my family. Like a lot of people, we have not seen any of our extended family in about two years since covid became a thing. It was refreshing to see my cousins who have grown up so much in just two years. I do not think anyone in my family realized since we were all just happy to see one another in person again but Thanksgiving was no the same with my last grandparent dying this past May. We had a changing of the old guard with my uncle on my dad’s side become to oldest person in our immediate family. Which for me is scary. It makes you realize how fast time is actually moving. Saying all this last week was one of the best Thanksgiving I think I have ever had. It has something to do with the fact that I have not had a family gathering for Thanksgiving or Christmas in two years. I had forgotten what being around family for a full day can do to you. All of the talking and catching up with everyone and talking about timeless classic family memorie

USA vs. Mexico

There was a huge soccer match this past Friday night. USA played Mexico in Cincinnati for their seventh world cup qualifying match. This means they are halfway through world cup qualifying for the 2022 world cup in Qatar. The match is extremely important since Mexico was top of the group before the match was played and if USA won the match, we would move into first place above Mexico. The match was crazy! Pulisic is USA’s best player but he has recently just come back from injury so he did not start. Usually, USA starts off their matches slowly and does not play to well in the first half. Mexico dominated the first half but thankfully did not get a goal. Then the second half started and this is where the action truly began. The game became more chippy and emotions started to rise up. USA started to look better but Mexico was still getting the better chances. That was until Pulisic was subbed into the game with 25 minutes to go. As soon as he came into the game the mentally of the who

Best Time Of The Year

There is only 4 more weeks in the semester starting next week! This is insane as the semester has flown by like always. Esports has consumed a lot of time. I practice everyday and have competitions usually once or twice a week. Club frisbee we played at two tournament this fall and now that we have entered November, we will have 3 practices a week for frisbee inside at Kinghorn. Club hockey has been going on every week on Sunday nights for about a month and a half now. With the semester coming closer to its end, every class is heating up with final projects and assignments. Even thought it is super busy right now it is the best time of the year as well. They are some big holidays coming up like Thanksgiving and Christmas. A bunch of time to relax and spend quality time with the family. This year is special since covid has been happening my family has not been able to come together and just catch up and talk. Usually, every Thanksgiving my cousins and I we have a basketball competitio

Rough First Semester On Varsity

My first season playing on varsity competing against some of the best teams in the country for Rocket League was exciting and a little disappointing. Last year when I was on the team, we had two varsity teams but I was on the lower-level team. Now I am one of if not the best player for Rocket League at Ohio Northern. My team and I we have high hopes for this whole school year on what we can accomplish. This first semester I think we have played decent but not up to our full potential of what we are capable of right now. We lost some close series to Cincinnati, Ohio State, and Michigan. We played the number one team in the country for Rocket League which is Northwood. They have five pros on their team and in Rocket League there is only three people on a team playing at once. Since we had a hard division for the Midwest, we did not finish in a playoff spot. We finished at three wins and six losses. While it is a little disappointing it was a learning experience. My team and I played at l

The Video Game Of All Time

I have played many video games over the years in different genres and skill sets. As a connoisseur of video games there is no game that hits different than RollerCoaster Tycoon (RTC). Nostalgia plays a huge factor into this for me. I grew playing RTC for years and was the game that honestly made me fall in love with playing video games. RTC made me fall in love with roller coasters and amusement parks. RTC has provided me with some of my best memories from growing up. I can remember in the wintertime going outside to sled with my older sisters and we would come back inside and drink hot coco and play RTC together for hours. I think it is the perfect game because there is so much freedom in choosing what to do and how to do it. There is no right or wrong way to play the game. This is the main reason why I think RTC is the best game I have ever played. You do not even need to know what you are doing to have a great time playing the game. And since I have played RTC for so long it is

Week 9 First Ice Hockey Game

Last Sunday was an exciting moment for me. I was finally able to play in my first ever hockey game on ice. This moment is so big for me it was years in the making. With covid happening and everything I did not know if I would be able to play hockey in college. Fortunately, there is a three verse three league going on in Bowling Green. We play two games every Sunday until the end of the semester. My games this past weekend was back-to-back. I’m going to be honest that was the first time in a long time where I felt really anxious and I had the butterflies in my stomach. Saying that I think playing those two games is some of the most fun I have ever had. The feeling I got from playing it was euphoric. I do not even know why but it was. I am the goalie so I get to slide around and gets pucks shot at me. I have played roller hockey before but ice hockey is a different beast. Since it was my first games ever on ice I sucked badly. We only lost like 7-12 both games so I was still close relati

Week 8 Speedrunning

No, I’m not talking about the Olympic sport of speed running. I’m talking about videogame speed running. I have played videogame for a long time ands have played many games. In my travels as a gamer, I came across speed running years ago. Speed running has always intrigued me. It is a completely different way of playing the game. Some games being played normal is hard enough and some people are crazy enough to spend thousands of hours practicing and optimizing speed runs. What is a speed run? A speed run is when someone completes a game under a time limit trying to beat the game as fast as possible. Seems pretty straight forward right. I thought so to until I started learning how speed runs work. The speed run community has been around since the 1990s. For every game there are multiple speed run categories like any % completion, glitch less any %, 100% completion, 100% completion glitch less and so on. There are tons of categories depending on and how a person completes the game. If
