Week 6 First Frisbee Tournament

This past weekend was exciting. I finally got to experience my first full outdoor frisbee tournament. I will be recapping what happened on Saturday and Sunday at the tournament. I am on club frisbee and we had our first tournament of the year this past weekend. The tournament was in Versailles which is an hour and a half east of Ada. On Saturday I woke up at 6am since we had to leave by 7am to get there around 8:15am-8:30am. Our first match started at 9am. We played 3 matches on Saturday which each match was around a little under 2 hours. The teams we played Saturday were Cedarville, Miami X, and Rose Hulman. Just some basic frisbee knowledge it is like football but with a disc. When you score a touchdown, it is only 1 point though. Halftime is at 8 points since the highest number of points that can be scored is 15. Our first match against Cedarville started off rough we went down 0-7. But by the time halftime rolled around the score was 4-8. We ended up losing 10-15 but For most peo

Week 5 SMSC

Week 5 and I forgot to do my blog whoops. This week flew by. I got to say my first 5 weeks in an apartment is going well. So, I am going to give a life update. This is the first time I am really living on my own not with a meal plan and having to cook all the time. I enjoyed cooking thankfully so I find it relaxing and honestly a bit of fun. Since I cook for myself I can eat whenever I want and not be restricted by Mac times or Wow times. My epsorts competitions have been underway for the past 3 weeks. We are only playing one league right now but the 2 nd league starts in October. We got to play the number 1 team in the country at the college level this week on Monday. That was a lot of fun getting to play people at the highest level of the game. As the semester goes on my weeks get busier and busier. My first frisbee tourney is this weekend. We play at least 6 games then a playoff bracket. To get along with the frisbee tourney my hockey league starts this Sunday and will be goi

Week 4 SMSC

As week 4 rolls around and is ending there has been something on my mind recently that happened by in May after school ended. When finals were done and I went home and was excited for summer. I needed time away from the classroom and this would be my final summer where I was able to spend most of it with the family. About 3 days after I had been home my granny came to visit my sister who was in town and me at our house. My grandma never liked being called grandma so we called her granny. We ate lunch together and talk for a long time since it had been a while since I had seen her in person with covid and everything. She mentioned how lonely she had become because of it and she had no one to talk to a lot of the time. I told her that I would spend the summer at her house cleaning it out like I did last summer. Eventually she ended up leaving and going home since there was a storm coming, she did not want to be caught in it. 2 days later it is mother’s day. In my family on mother’s d

Week 3 SMSC Esports

Already 3 weeks into the semester and I am tired haha. Recently I made the varsity roster for Rocket League, which is the game I play on the epsorts team. Once I found out I made varsity I felt very relieved that I made the cut. I have been putting in a ton of hours to get better and make top 3 on the team. Last year when I joined the team, I was the worst player on the team and now I am considered one of if not the best players for Rocket League. One of the main reasons I am happy about making the team is I know once I graduate college, I will not have another opportunity like this in my life. The way Troy runs the program is not like any other program in the country. Most schools just have players and they coach themselves and pick what teams they want. Usually, the best player on the team is the captain and that person decides what happens for whatever game they are playing. The way Troy runs our program is we have coaches who run tryouts for all the games. After tryouts each te

Week 2 SMSC Ultimate Frisbee

Back here with another blog post. Last week talked about roller hockey and this week I'm going to talk about my experience in a frisbee league over the summer too. My experience in the frisbee league is a bit different than the roller hockey experience. I was still playing with people above my skill level sometimes but I'm a better frisbee player overall than a hockey goalie. Because of this I was able to learn concepts easier and become a better, more competitive player as the summer went on. Unlike hockey I have been playing ultimate frisbee for 2-3 years with the club team here at ONU. Instead of learning new concepts from scratch it was more of refining my skills and elevating my game to a new level since I had experience already. Since I was a new player in this league I got auto assigned to a team. The team I got was made up of players in their mid-20’s who played ultimate at The University of Toledo. Since I was playing with D1 club players for 2 months I think thi
