For our final week of class, we read through chapters 9 and 10. I want to focus in on chapter 10 which is about the numbers behind social media.
Parts of this chapter I used for our Pinterest
assignment last week. In that assignment I looked at social media measurements
and different ways to measure social media accounts. Using this you can find
out what is important and what works better. This is important so in the future
you know what works which helps make the overall process easier. Say a content
creator makes 5 different posts with different content and catered for
different people. You could look at the data which in this case would be views,
likes, retweets, gained followers, etc. These stats could help you find out
what works better for the future.
Another important topic brought up is social media budget.
To most people social media budget is zero. Once you get to a certain size or
maybe someone is trying to get noticed. A social media budget is useful. Most organizations
and creator have investments into social media. For YouTubers it could be
programs for editing videos such as Adobe Premier Pro or Blender. Before
editing the video, you would need to buy a camera and laptop or pc. Beyond that
there are many accessories that can elevate a creator’s video on YouTube.
Better microphones, cameras, laptop or pc, lighting, stream deck, etc. The list
goes on and on depending on the content someone posts. Especially on YouTube
most major creators have a team of video editors who edit and post video for the
creator.
Chapter 10 gives insight to some more behind the scenes
while dealing with social media.
